Patience is a virtue. The deer coming to your salt or whatever you put out there to attract them isn't hard. I'm not saying it is easy to wait but shooting them with a gun is easier then shooting them with a bow and arrow.

While I don't hunt myself, I am not anti hunting. I just don't think luring an animal by setting up attractants is really hunting. Hunting to me is going out and tracking an animal with stealth. If you really need it for the food then there is a difference.

Vegitarians are cool unless they are the moralists. Not to say that people who eat meat and vegitables can't be like that too, but yeah.

I am not a vegetarian. It's just that most hunters are not subsistence hunters but are trophy hunters. If you are a subsistence hunter I have no problem with baiting, but a trophy hunter should do more than just sit and wait for an animal to come and eat where there has been food available to them for weeks before the season starts.

Hunt: to chase or search for (game or other wild animals) for the purpose of catching or killing.

That would be more interesting but many times the hunting party was much larger then a handful of people. So that would not work as well today unless you got a whole community together to go "hunt" a deer.

I have a friend who hunts with his brother and one of them will drive from one side while the other waits for whatever may be stirred up.

Quail hunting perhaps? You flush them out then shoot them. That's what the dogs are for.

pffft, that's bird hunting. u expect to be able to just go walking around the woods until u scare up a deer?, trying to shoot at a running target with a rifle or a bow. hell, u'd scare em off before u even see em.

They also do it with deer as in our area with the rolling hills and confined areas where the deer are located it is possible.

And sure, that's nice to be able to walk around large fields and spot some deer couple hundred yards off, and sneak within 200-100 yards for a shot. but how are u suppose to do something like that in a wooded area?

We have established deer trails throughout our wooded areas, if you know where they are you can slowly push deer along them into an area where a shot may be taken. I didn't say it was easy but it can and has been done.
